Hi, Ralph:
You're correct in that the slurs don't necessarily stay with the notes as they are transposed, but there's a fairly easy workaround. Simply select the slur (or slurs) and click on the "Fit slur above notes" or "Fit slur below notes" slur icon on the tool bar or press "a" for "above" or "b" for "below". They'll reset themselves.
