Notation Software products will open and transcribe .mid and .kar filetypes, and keep all edits in their .not filetype. For getting a written score that you have on paper into a file that you can use with Notation Software products, you can either hand-enter it into
Notation Composer (which you can try out free for 30 days) or you'll need an optical character recognition (OCR) application that translates graphic files or scans into .mid files. I use an inexpensive ($24) one myself called PhotoScore MIDI Lite, and you can read more about this process at our
