Default Lyrics - align left for chant lyrics

Sherrie

I am putting in Dylan Thomas' "Sunset Poem" which is set to an Anglican chant (Troyte No 1). Therefore is has a phrase of lyrics (multiple syllables) on the first long note of each section and because the length of the phrase is different for each verse, the centred alignment of lyrics is a bit distracting.

I cannot see that there is any way of changing the alignment of lyrics so that they are left aligned relative to the note so I guess I must add space to the beginning or end of each phrase so they are better aligned? Or is there another way?

Thanks
Tim

Hi, Tim:

You're right in that Composer doesn't have an option for lyric alignment. (Am I missing something, Sherry?)

You could enter the lyrics as free text and position them as you need. That would take some trial and error.

Hi guys,

There is not a way to left-justify lyrics at the moment, though it is on the "to do" list.

I don't recommend using Free Text to do this if you're using the file for practicing - the Lyrics light up with the note they're associated with, but Free Text doesn't. If it's just for printing purposes, you could use Free Text, but be sure you do it in Page (not Window) view so you spend less time fidgeting it

ttfn,
Sherry
