Default Delete measures, of a single staff empty

hello
My name is Franco , I am Italian , and I am a new member to the Forum, I greet all
in particular the webmaster!
I have a question :
Let me know if you can delete the empty measures of a single staff ,
for example : I create a new staff of a particular instrument, which will only play from the twentieth to the thirty-fifth measure , what I want to know you can delete the empty measures from number one to number twenty ?
and the number 36 to the end of the song ?
I think that long ago I was able to do this,
maybe now I forgot .......
And more :
you can import into Composer , sounds different from the default ones ?
For example, a drum kit , a synth sound ?
If this is possible where can I download these sounds ?
and what extension do they have?
I state , that I have only the master keyboard , which does not have any sound in them, and normally use to play VSTI .
I hope I explained myself , and you understood my bad English
Unfortunately, I do not know the language, and I'm using an electronic translator .....
Thanks in advance
Franco

You can hide those measures by using
Measures -> Collapse multiple measure rests

Notation Composer does not have its own sounds, but can use any MIDI device that you have plugged into or installed on your computer.

If you already have VSTis that you use, you may already have a set up that allows Notation Composer to "plug in" to the host for your VSTis. Open your VSTi host first. Then, if you have Notation Composer installed, run it and take a look at
Setup -> MIDI Devices Configuration

to see what Devices you have listed. If you only have the GS Wavetable, you will need to (1) install a virtual MIDI cable to communicate with the VST host and (2) you will probably want to disable the GS Wavetable.

For step-by-step instructions for virtual MIDI cables, please see the video at http://www.notation.com/vb-forum/showthread.php?t=3863

To disable the GS Wavetable, in Composer
Setup -> MIDI Devices Configuration -> Port -> Select Ports

and uncheck the GS Wavetable box.

Let us know if you have further questions

ttfn,
Sherry

Hi Sherry,
Thanks for the reply,
I tried to follow your directions to hide the empty measures
Measure drop-down menu ----> Collapse multiple measure rests,
Unfortunately, this option is not hiding anything ........
while I solved by going to the menu: Format -> select Hide Staves Resting ---> under -.> Options -> in the dialog: Hide Resting Steves ---> check the box, -> hide resting steves (for steves selected below) ---> select the staff to hide, and give OK.
and as if by magic all empty measures of selected staff to disappear .........
I hope that this solution can also be used for other forum users.
as regards the sounds to be imported into Composer, do you think that I can import sounds from a VSTI, loaded on VST Host?
I use VSTI Hosts, Cantabile Performer, you say that the two software can be connected via a virtual MIDI Cable?
What is Synthfonts? This can be useful to me?
Thanks for your attention
Franco

Hi Franco,

Glad you figured out that you needed "Hide resting staves" - I misunderstood you to mean just certain measures

For Cantabile, you should be able to use a virtual MIDI cable to send your signal from Composer to Cantabile. So really all you need to do is install something like the LoopBe cable (or you can purchase LoopBe30 if you need more than one cable/16 channels). In that case, you will not need to get SynthFont.

ttfn,
Sherry

Hi Sherry
Thanks for the quick reply,
the manner I indicated, it allows you to hide all the empty measures of staff,
that appears in the score, only when the instrument dedicated to him will play.
regards Franco
