Hi Martin,

Here is one reason I can think of:

All real Instruments are limited to a range of notes that can be played on that instrument. Sample libraries often respect that natural range of notes. Composer can be confident, that a certain notated note in a song can be played on the intended instrument. Composer does not know the range of other notes the instrument can play. However Composer can be confident about the range of notes that can be played on a piano.
