Today, as I was listening to one of my midi pianos compositions with a soundfont, I thought: I wrote that? Wow!
To hear myself say that made me laugh. Does anyone else feel that satisfied about a work of their own? It's a great feeling to have.

Howdy Daniel,

That is a great feeling to have - may you have it even more often in the days to come!

So, how's about sharing this composition with us?

And I'm also curious as to which soundfont you were using to listen to your composition. I enjoy using soundfonts, also (I have an SB Audigy2 card), and am always on the lookout for nice fonts.

ttfn,
Sherry

Default Well Sherry, the midi is alrea

Well Sherry, the midi is already posted, called the Favorite, posted here. http://www.notation.com/cgi-bin/disc...2463#POST12463
But here's the .not file: <center><table border=1><tr><td>
Determination_.not (35.6 k)</td></tr></table></center>
I named it "Determination", because that seems to me the emotion that the music brings out.

Because I'm only a teen, I can't afford fancy soundfont programs, only the free ones. I use the soundfont ClavinovePiano1V2.sf2 (from hammersound.com) with Synthfont.exe. I'm sure there's better piano soundfonts to be had, for money.

Thanks for your good wishes!

~Daniel

Howdy Daniel,

I did smile and say "wow!" I'm impressed! "Determination" is a good name.

You said:
Because I'm only a teen, I can't afford fancy soundfont programs, only the free ones.

Sherry responds:
Because I'm a Mom with four kids, I can't afford fancy soundfont programs, only the free ones

I can relate! Hammersound is one of my favorite sources for fonts, as well as a few others (I've waxed eloquent, or at least waxed loudly, elsewhere in the forum on soundfonts). I haven't tried the piano font you listed, but I'll go give it a listen with your piece. The "default" soundfont that I use for general purposes is Chaos. I also use SynthFont for saving tracks as WAV or MP3 - it's a very handy program for such!

If you have any other favorite soundfonts, I'd love to know about them.

By the way, if you're starting out with compositions like this one at your age, you're way ahead of a lot of folks, me included! Keep up the great work!

ttfn,
Sherry

P.S. For those reading, it's hammersound.net, not hammersound.com.

Default P.P.S. The Clavinova soundfont

P.P.S. The Clavinova soundfont is not at hammersound, I must have gotten it somewhere else. Anyways, don't bother, there's better sound fonts out there.

Hello Daniel,

I just now listened to your Determination, and agree with Sherry that this is very good name for the piece. The piece is very well constructed.

Cheers

Default Thanks Mark. By the way,

Thanks Mark.

By the way, pianissimum.sf2 is the best soundfont from hammersound for piano.
