Soundfont Newbie confused
All I want is decent sounds when I play piece in Composer 3
Sure there are posts here that helps but there are so many and so confusing to me. Answer or link would be appreciated. Installed Synthfont 1.721 (couldn't find 1.6, as in video) and Taiji font appears there. <Turn MIDI Input On> click seems to do nothing (no grey-outs) and Composer 3 does not "see" the device in <Setup><MIDI . . .><Configuration> I am not using an external MIDI device for input. Re: Soundfont Newbie confused
Hi,
Actually with Composer 3 you can use the internal Notation Software Synth and swap around soundfonts. Musician does not have this capability, but Composer does. This feature avoids having to set up anything like SynthFont or other soundfont players/hosts as the Notation Software Synth is the default playback device. To see the details for selecting a soundfont to use in Notation Composer 3, please see Help/Users Guide, and then use the Index to look up "soundfont, selection". There are lots of free General MIDI (GM) soundfonts out on the internet. You can also search this forum for "soundfont" to find some links. ttfn, Sherry

Re: Soundfont Newbie confused
Hooray again! I have already downloaded a few soundfonts I like. Followed instructions, piece of cake (not to be confused with Cakewalk"!). Sounds much better to me. thanks again.

Re: Soundfont Newbie confused
I am using CoolSoft - VirtualMIDISynth.
It's free but very good sf2 based Synthesizer. |

Hi,

CoolSoft had been a recommended synth before the internal Notation Software Synth was developed. Our internal synth can handle sf2 and sf3 type soundfonts, and allows you to do all the "MIDI massaging" within notation composer 3. ttfn, Sherry
