Default Moving last staves to next page

In a 2 page piece i want to move the bottom staff to the next page as the 2nd page only has a few bars . If I try using page break the staff moves to the next page but the bars on page 2 move to a 3rd page. i read a thread about a "split page" command in layout , but I cannot find that in the layout menu. how cannot I get composer to allow me to choose how many staves per page for a part?

Hi, panworks:

It sounds as though there is a page break in the layout at the top of the page with only a couple of bars in it.

Choose the Layout tab, then click on the Page Layout icon in the Main Palette. You should now see a greyed-out version of the score.

Check to see if there is a dotted line with "page break" in the centre of it at the top of the last page.

If so, click on that (it should turn blue), then press the "Delete" key. It should disappear and your orphan bars should now join up with your new page.

Hope that helps.

David

I am trying to move measures from the 1st crowded page to the 2nd page. even if I remove the page break at the top of the 2nd page the measures on that page move to a 3rd page when I insert a page break above the last staff on the 1st page - which moves it to the 2nd page. Now I get one 4 measure staff on the 2nd page (the one I moved with the page break) and 4 measures on page 3.

Hi, Panworks:

Might be a good idea to back to square one: Select the Layout tab and the Page Layout icon, then click on Def in the toolbar.

You'll get a dialogue box with several options, but just let them all stay selected and click OK.

That should re-set your layout and smooth things over.
