Default Notation Musician and Composer

Notation Musician and Composer 2.0 beta release version 1.9.14 are now available at:
www.notation.com/MidiNotateBetaRelease.htm

This is the first beta release of Notation Musician 2.0. If you are an old-time MidiNotate user who had upgraded to Composer 1.0 or 1.1, take a look how Musician 2.0 has grown up along with its big brother or sister Composer 2.0.

To continue beta testing Composer 2.0, you can use a 1.7Mb patch from version 1.9.13 to 1.9.14; but no patches are available from earlier beta releases of Composer to version 1.9.14.

Here's a summary of the enhancements and bug fixes in version 1.9.14:

Playlist. Usability improvement: The flat buttons in the Playlist Panel are now normal buttons, such as for Open and Add. Fix bug: Double-clicking a song name in the playlist, to start playback, sometimes hung the program; this double-click option has been temporarily disabled.

Metronome. Enhancement: You can now display the Metronome Setup window by clicking the Metronome button while holding down the Ctrl key. The Metronome will now be silent during playback by default for new installations of Musician and Composer.

Measures. Fix bug: Deleting the last measure(s) of a score sometimes resulted in a hang of the program.

Meter. Fix bug: The meter was displayed only on the top staff. This bug was introduced in version 1.9.13.

Parts and Staff Setup. The following commands now automatically add new parts to the list of parts: Split Hands, Split Drums, and Split Melody and Accompaniment. The Split Drum command now automatically adds brackets that span the newly created single-line drum staves. Fix bug: If an attempt were made to change the selected part during playback, the program sometimes hung. Fix bug: A NoteSoft version 1.x .not file might include parts that have blank names; these parts are now automatically removed from the newly opened 1.x file.

Drums. Enhancements: The Notes and Rests palette now includes a Notehead Shape palette for drum noteheads. (Drum notehead shapes were supported in version 1.x, but not with a palette.)

For 5-line General MIDI drum staves, accidentals (sharps and flats) are no longer displayed. Instead, the 'X' noteheads are replaced with triangle noteheads for sharp pseudo drum pitches, and are replaced with inverted triangle noteheads for flat pseudo drum pitches. NOTE: Be sure to restart Windows to make sure that the new Harmony font is installed, which has the new inverted triangle drum notehead shape.

Cheers
