Default George Gershwin

An American In Paris (1929) {may I suggest playing back the notation file in windows mode so you can see the seven tracks used.} You'll see at a glance the challenge and joy of pulling this project together. This was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I want to thank Notation.com and, of course, George Gershwin. Currently in the works: Rhapsody In Blue (1924) has at last been posted above by me,(Michael)Gershwin wrote it in 3 weeks. What a man! Longer works like Rhapsody in Blue and An American In Paris can be difficult to post in one continuous piece. With the help of Sherry,[U] my notation file of An American In Paris is posted here. Thank you, Sherry.
Although I have a website http://www.michael605.com/ , I am proud to post my Gershwin collection here, assembled with the help of Notation's Composer. My favourite work is (as I have said above) the time and reward of putting together An American in Paris. I hope you enjoy it.

Nice Work If You Can Get It is arranged by Melody Bober, here. I much enjoyed sequencing it with Composer. Bober seems to overstylize Gershwin...but maybe I'm just a jealous vocalist. I play a computer keyboard, and Bober tries to show off the pianist. I was surpised as I often am. Using Composer is like finding out new things about an old friend. She (Ms. Bober) surprised me with the ending. I liked the chorus so well I used it for background for my website http://www.michael605.com

Rhapsody In Blue (piano duet) [1924] is completed. Good news. I found the recording of George Gershwin promoting his song "I Got Rhythm" from "Girl Crazy" (1930) Hear George in his own words and piano playing. Check comments for this recording in .mp3

Thank you for your kind words. I liked the surprise ending, too. The sheet music arrangement was (as posted) by Melody Bober. Nice work, if you can get it. I learned a lot from Rhapsody in Blue, but by far my favorite was the one George composed in France in 1928-1929 "An American In Paris." I made the French taxi cab sounds by mixing French horn and overdriven muted trumpet. It was definitely a French horn. Thanks again for the reply. (Michael A Dodson)
