Default Hello, Alek: To jump into t

Hello, Alek:

To jump into the conversation: I see a lot of people on the 'net who preface their comments with an apology for bad English. Chum, anybody who speaks a second language at any level deserves respect! At that, you probably speak it better than most people who are born to it.

I live in an officially bi-lingual country (French and English) and I've never really learned any French -- just enough to get thoroughly ignored in Quebec. I have a fading amount of German and Italian and not enough of either to get by with.

And the fact that you've simply picked it up along the way is probably the best way to learn to speak a language.

So: "Good on you, mate!" (Australian English); "Righteous!" (American English); "Way to go, eh!" (Canadian English); "Jolly good, what!" (English English).

The English she is a funny language, no?

David
