Re: Name That Tune!?

Found! It is from Rossini's "Barber of Seville".

There's a funny story attached to this discovery - our dentist has had piano keyboard training, so I thought I'd ask him. His first response was,...

Name That Tune!?

I sent the attached snippet to a number of my musical friends, and other than some saying, "Yeah, that sounds familiar.", I got no hits. Can anyone, perhaps someone with a classical background,...

Re: Christmas music for 2017

That looked like your troop was having a lot of fun, David. Sorry to be so late, but I just carved out some time to watch this. Unfortunately, the singers were very difficult to understand, but the...

"Till There Was You" was written in 1950 by Meredith Willson for the Broadway Musical, and eventually the movie of the same name.

This is a fairly easy song to play.

If you would like to see...

Bolero Duet

"Bolero" was written by Maurice Ravel in 1928. This orchestral work is one of my all-time favorites.

Well, this is a very ambitious project. For starters, trying to reduce this monumental piece...

Re: Persistent Lyrics

Attached is a snippet of the piece that was originally created on Beta 136. Using Beta 164, I copied 4 measures of it into a blank template. Then I added 4 measures; copied/pasted the first 4...

Augmented Chord Names

After looking at this for a while, I don't like making the augmented chord names red. It makes it look like there is an error. It's not an error in the many, many western world fake books.

I...

Re: Can't Open XML File

DOH! Thank you, Sherry. I had looked in PhotoScore (PS) for an export function. Not finding any, I sent the PS file to Sibelius, etc., etc. It never occurred to me that there was a Save As...

Re: Can't Open XML File

Thanks for the readable score, Reinhold. It looks like I have very little idea on how to use PhotoScore. Your file came through with the transposing instruments in the wrong key, which means I set...

Re: Loading of Sound Fonts

Reinhold,

Thank you for the detailed explanation, and the time and effort that you had to put in to do that - time that would probably have been better spent elsewhere. I shouldn't have bothered...

Re: Loading of Sound Fonts

Do I just need to copy FluidR3Mono_GM.sf3 to the directory Composer is searching, or is there more to it?

"Side by Side" was written in 1927 by Gus Kahn and Harry Woods. Well-known recording star, Kay Starr, released a version that was very popular in 1953.

This is a fairly easy song to play, and is...

I Think I Love You Duet

"I Think I Love You" was written in 1970 by Tony Romeo.

Cynthia and I would like to dedicate this arrangement to the memory of David Cassidy, who passed away November 21, 2017. David was a member...

Loading of Sound Fonts

For a recorder duet I'm working on, I thought the sound I'm used to hearing was different with my recently installed 3.0.6-151. This morning, I thought to try it on current release 3.0.6 for...

Re: Key Change Won't Transpose Key Signature

I found a workaround for this problem. I copied Alto measures 5-18 and pasted them in Alto 47-60 (which I was going to do anyway, in part) and deleted the notes where they were not what I wanted...

Key Change Won't Transpose Key Signature

This incomplete duet has a key change at measure 47 that looks okay in concert, but when transposed (qsik command) the Alto part stays in Fm (4 flats) instead of transposing to Cm (3 flats).

Re: Can't Enter a Q

Update - looks like 3.0.6-136 just has a major aversion to including the letter q in ANY lyrics. RRR

Can't Enter a Q

Sorry - I'm still on 3.0.6-136 - haven't had time to upgrade.

In measure 18, beat three, I can't put a "q" as the first letter of "quar-". I tried the entire alphabet, a-z - all letters accepted...

I'm shifting gears as I have another piece where the persistent lyric problem is repeatable across the save/open scenario, using 3.0.6-136.

I originally scored this with measures 5-9 including the...
