Hello MidiNotate Composer and

Hello MidiNotate Composer and Musician Users,

Maintenance Release Version 1.1.5 of MidiNotate Composer and MidiNotate Musician has been released. If you are using version 1.1.2, 1.1.3, or 1.1.4, you can update to version 1.1.4 quickly using a patch. For instructions, please visit www.notation.com/ComposerUpdate.htm or www.notation.com/MusicianUpdate.htm.

If you are using a special version of Composer 1.1.4A through 1.1.4G, then please redownload your copy of Composer according to the instructions at www.notation.com/redownload.htm. Or, if you have a slow Internet connection, let me know, and I'll create special patch for you from 1.1.4x to 1.1.5.

The fixes and improvements in version 1.1.4 are:
  • Playback. If the as-performed note exactly ends at the start of another note with the same pitch in the same track, then the second note might get stuck, that is, continue to play after it is supposed to stop. This bug was introduced in version 1.1.4.
  • Playback. No notes will be heard on the Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth if an opened MIDI file includes one or more SysEx events.
  • MIDI File Open. A MIDI file failed to open if it had a meter (time signature) with a denominator of 64 or greater.
Cheers

Hi Mark,

I downloaded the 1.14 to 1.15 patch but when I installed it I got the message that the operation had failed because the Composer on my system was of an unexpected size, and was either corrupt or had been patched before. The version I have is 1.14.

I'm not quite sure what to do now.

best,
mgj

Howdy M G,

A couple of questions: Do you have one of the "special editions" that Mark made a patch for in testing out a couple of bugs? Or, did you perchance mistakenly download the trial patch rather than the "paid for" patch? Either of those conditions would give you the error you saw. I've actually done that myself (downloaded and tried to install the wrong patch), before http://www.notation.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif

If either of the above was the case, then you can just go back and download the correct patch. Or, just to be on the safe side all around, you can redownload your paid-for copy of Composer - see Mark's links above. That will be the latest full version, and won't cost you anything except more bandwidth on the download http://www.notation.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif

ttfn,
Sherry

Hi Sherry,

No and no. I did a bit looking around and found two composers (1.0 and 1.1) in add/remove programs. I suspect this had to do with having 1.0 and the beta installed at the same time. At any rate, I've got rid of all traces of composer in the add/remove list, and will later download the latest version.

(I have only a few operations left on the string section in SG. You might know it--I got tired and didn't finish them last night.)

all best,
mgj
