possible improvements

first of all I must say that notation composer is a perfect program. Im very Happy haven it!!!! :)

I would like you to add several tuning systems like pure, meantone intonations and well temperaments (Kirnberger, Vallotti, Werckmeister, Young). as well as different options of equal temperaments like 6-tone, 9-tone, 12-tone, 15-tone 17-tone, 19-tone, 22-tone, 24-tone, 31-tone, etc.

It would be good to have better bending and vibrato options for guitar and keyboard.

Best wishes for everybody.

Hi Angelo,

Thanks for your interest in notation composer.

Since our focus is "everyday musicians", we mainly focus on the most typically used music notation and performance features in our software. We keep a database of feature requests, and when a new feature is implemented, it's because many customers have requested it. While we have had a couple of requests for alternate tuning/temperament options, the vast majority of our users don't need these options and so we have not implemented them at this time.

We do, however, offer Graph Over Notes for doing things like pitch bends.

For vibrato, there are a few different options you can use. One (and probably the best) is the use of sound libraries (eg. Garritan, or East-West, among others) that have specialized samples that can be used in their hosts, and which can then be used as the MIDI playback device in Composer.

Another is to play around with the MIDI controllers in Composer and different soundfonts (only in Composer) and devices that you have. Different devices, libraries, and soundfonts have varying capability to do things like vibrato, and it will depend on the particular device/library/soundfont that you use as to how you can control the vibrato, whether it's to use a different instrument or set a MIDI controller (via GraphOverNotes) for the note(s) you want vibrato on.

If you mean something like a trill, then that is already taken care of in Notation Composer. You can use Notes,Rests -> Ornaments, and add a trill to the note(s). Not only will this add the trill to the notation for the live musician to play, but when you play back the file the note will trill as well.

Hope this is helpful.

ttfn,
Sherry
