Showing Concert Pitch chord names with a single transposing instrument part

Howdy friends,

I just had an inquiry at the helpdesk from one of our musicians wanting to show the concert pitch chord names in a single part whose notes are in a transposing key (eg. Alto sax).

Here's the "trick" that I told him to use if you want to see the properly transposed notes for a transposing instrument (eg. Alto sax, Bb clarinet, etc.) but you also want to see the Concert Pitch chord names.
1. If your file does not have a staff that contains no notes, use Staff/Add staff to create one (you can name it "blank" or something to help you remember.)

2. In Part/Display and Define Parts, select the "Alto sax" part in the left hand panel, and then click on the "blank" staff in the right hand panel to add that staff to the Alto Sax part.

3. Click the "Display part and exit" button on the right of the dialog box. When the "do you wish to save changes?" box comes up, click "Yes."

4. Now, if both staves are showing, then you'll need to select Staff/Hide Resting Staves to hide that "blank" staff.

After selecting that option, the "blank" staff should not show on the score, the Alto Sax staff should show with the proper instrument transposition notes, and the Concert Pitch chord names should also be displayed.

Enjoy!
Sherry
