Looking at Reinhold's Force Controller Reset midis

Hi,

The download of the new Beta 3.0.6 coincided with the death of my monitor, so it's taken me a couple of days to get back to accomplishing anything.

I did get the Midi Export Options zip file and had a look at the enclosed files.

I'm not quite sure what you wanted us to look at with them, but I loaded each file and checked them out in the Export Midi dialogue. The Midi GM files showed a different behaviour to the others. Here is what I observed in the Export Midi dialogue box with each file:

-------------------------
Midi GM - Midi Format Options shown with GM Midi Format selected.

Midi GM Force Controller Reset - Midi Format Options shown with GM Midi Format selected. Force Controller Reset is not selected.

Midi GM2 - no Midi Format Options shown.

Midi GM2 Force Controller Reset - no Midi Format Options shown. Force Controller Reset is not selected.

Midi GS - no Midi Format Options shown.

Midi GS Force Controller Reset - no Midi Format Options shown. Force Controller Reset is not selected.

Midi XG - no Midi Format Options shown.

Midi GM2 - no Midi Format Options shown. Force Controller Reset is not selected.
-------------------------

I don't really have a way to compare the output of the resulting file as shown in the accompanying .png files.

Re: Looking at Reinhold's Force Controller Reset midis

David,

Thanks. My post on "MIDI Export Options in notation musician 3 and notation composer 3" is not related to the beta trial of 3.0.7. It is a general information how our products exports MIDIs files since version 3.0.1. Because exporting and saving of files is disabled in all trial versions, we frequently get asked about how our software exports the MIDI format. In version 3.0.1 the export format was reworked to provide the best possible sounds for the exported MIDI files. The sounds significantly depend on the resetting MIDI event sequence which also depends on the used MIDI device (keyboard, DCMs). This is the reason why we have the various options. Since version 3.0.1 we have not had any complains nor issues on the MIDI export format. The only request which have come up since 3.0.1 was to handle the MIDI events key pressure aftertouch and channel pressure aftertouch. These events are new now in 3.0.7 but actually very rare. When I compare to what our competitors offer, looks like that we have created something important with these MIDI export options in version 3.

Okay, thanks for that clarification, Reinhold.

I thought it was interesting that the GM files brought up the Midi format options, but the GS, XG and GM2 did not.

Re: Looking at Reinhold's Force Controller Reset midis

Yes, the GS, XG and GM2 already contain those options and according to the principle "not to change such an option further" will be kept. If the user wants to use a different MIDI option, he/she should start from the original .not file and export the different option. Saving a MIDI file is an "export" into a certain format.
