Offline documentation

Just a minor grumble, but as a user I find the new configuration of the help file being available only on the web site is less helpful for me than having a local copy of the documentation.
I can understand that it may be more convenient from the editorial point of view but for me it is slower than a local copy and there are occasions when I am out practising with the choir or other musicians and do not have an Internet connection but want to refer to something.
So is there any chance of spinning of a local copy?
Tim

Hi Tim,

You're right that we went with an online version of the documentation so that we could more easily update it when we make changes to the software, and so that everyone would be accessing the same copy.

We could spin a local .chm copy, but to install that separately means a bit of "under the hood" work for you as the end user (Windows doesn't let you just drop in a .chm file without some permissions issues and such).

Alternatively, there is a pdf copy of the Users Guide available for download at http://www.notation.com/Documentatio...tTopic=Support
The PDF version is searchable, and with the added benefit of being able to "mark up" the copy you have with your pdf reader/application.

Sherry

Dear Sherry, Tim

May be the following viewer tool can be a solution to easy view the .CHM help file: http://www.chmviewer.com/

Otherwise google to find alternative. I don't have a CHM file
to test it myself.

Cheers Jaap

Sherry

Many thanks: I hadn't spotted the PDF. That will be good as it is always the same features that I forget how to use!

Jaap

Thanks for the suggestion. I will investigate that option as well.

In that case the PDF might be better as you can bookmark those topics and add your own notes (I use Foxit PDF reader, but many others allow that type of annotation as well).

Enjoy :)
