Staves with different sizes please...

Hi,
I am evaluating Notation Composer with much pleasure. Yet I am not able to view and print a score where staves would have different sizes. The best situation would be to obtain this with a two-hand piano score, but any workaround is welcome. Size choices seem to me to apply to parts only, not staves. So I made a right-hand part, a left-hand part, sized them, but I am only able to view one of them at a time. If I choose "Conductor Part" I can view both staves, but they have the same size.
I hope my English is not too broken :o. Thanks in advance for your help.

Tom.

Hi Tom,

I'm glad that you are enjoying trying out Notation Composer!

You are correct that sizing options apply to all staves within a Part, but not to individual staves. I cannot say that I recall ever seeing any score where there would be staves of different vertical size within the same score. Is there some type of music where this is used?

ttfn,
Sherry

Hi !
I don't think it is so unusual, it is useful for example for pedagogical reasons (big notes for the beginner, normal size for teacher) or if an instrument part is just there for reference, in case one should check something in it, but not for reading on stage. To be sure that we understand each other, I include examples :

or

But if I write a part size 10, then another one size 6, is there no way that one can set up a staff that would display both with their respective sizes ? As far as i have tried, they always come up with the same size, even if they have different sizes when displayed individually.
In Cubase SX, I can do it with stafff set-up /options (hope this is correct, my Cubase is in French)... But I like working in NC better !
Regards,
Tom

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the examples. I'll add a note that this is a feature that could be included for teachers.

(I especially liked "Dada Song" - it reminded me of some of my son's violin lessons ;) )

Sherry, it's also standard for things like (e.g.) a Beethoven piano concerto where the orchestral part is given as piano reduction.
