Beethoven's Moonlight (Rocked Out)

Here are the 1st and 3rd movements of the famous sonata. Now before anyone starts saying I'm just a MIDI sequence dude, I actually used to play these pieces live on an old piano in a recreation center, before there was any MIDI. Memorized all 22 pages of the 3 movements.

I tried various instruments on the 1st movement, but decided to stick with straight piano, adding a bass line and drums.

On the 3rd movement, I doubled parts in a few places to increase an already intense piece of music. The bass and drums were played "live," since I was so familiar with the sonata.

You'll need a synth with drums to enjoy these pieces.

Roll over, Beethoven!

Howdy,

I love these! Very reminiscent of Trans Siberian Orchestra (TSO), whom I love. I took the liberty of changing the top Piano to distorted electric guitar just for fun (and it was!). You also did an excellent job on the drums, which is not always an easy feat. How do you enter your drums?

I think the excellence of your arrangements shows your familiarity with the pieces (having memorized them as you did helps a lot, I'm sure!). I find it a lot of fun myself to "jam arrange" over a song that I'm really familiar with as it gives you a frame work from which to creatively explore. You've done a great job with these!

ttfn,
Sherry

p.s. If you really want to change your forum handle to something different (as mentioned in a previous post) just let me know and I think we can change that.

Thanks, Sherry C. I used to be Ricebug on the forums years ago. Lost the password and it would not let me back on with my old identity. Check and see how long ago the last post was. If it was back when dinosaurs roamed the earth it was probably me.

Concerning the drums on these Beethoven sonatas, I typically layer the pieces, starting with kick and snare. Then I add hats and cymbals. The flourishes and transitions last. And yes, I spent many months at the keys, practicing, practicing, practicing.

Send me an email on that name change thing if you have questions.
