    Hi Terry,

Sorry to have delayed so long, but I have not seen this message til just now.

If you're using a MIDI keyboard to input the scores, you may not be hitting the keys very hard, and so the Note Velocity is quite low. Composer records the Note Velocity so that you can record a more realistic performance, but if you're not doing a performance-type recording, you can fix this issue by (1) entering all your notes (2) when done entering select the staff (Staff select button) and then click the Notes tab and the note button (to select all the notes in the staff) (3) hold the "L" key down on your keyboard (for "L"oudness) and press the Up arrow key to jack up the loudnesses for all the selected notes.

Now when you play the file the notes should be nice and loud.
FYI, when you hand-type the scores using your mouse, the default loudness is 96 (the range of loudness/Note Velocity is 0-127).

    Hope this helps!

    ttfn,
    Sherry

Hello Sherry, It's been a long time since I logged in. Is this a private message? If not, please feel free to delete immediately, and perhaps let me know how to ask a question. I'm now using MIDI input to write scores. I can't figure out why the volume on playback is so low. I have to turn the volume on my speakers all the way up to hear it, yet when I hand type the scores, I get a normal volume without turning anything up. Any ideas? I couldn't find anything in help or in the forum. Thanks, Terry
