Default Tico Tico Duet

"Tico Tico" was written in 1917 by Brazilian composer, Zequinha de Abreu. It is also entitled "Tico Tico no Fubá". Wikipedia says: "Fubá" is a type of maize flour, and "tico-tico" is the name of a bird, the rufous-collared sparrow (Zonotrichia capensis). Hence, "tico-tico no fubá" means "sparrow in the cornmeal".

This is a challenging song, but very much fun to play. Try it at a slower tempo until you get used to it. It will be very rewarding.

Measures 1 to 24 are taken from a lead sheet. The interlude from the pickups to measure 25 to just before the pickup notes to the D. S. al Coda are either something I heard some band play back in the past or my own invention. I have to think it is my variation of something I remember incompletely.

At any rate, don't let the tempo scare you away. Take it easy and have fun!
