Sir Duke Duet (Stevie Wonder)
"Sir Duke" was written by Stevie Wonder in 1976 in reverence and respect for Duke Ellington (Sir Duke) and the many great popular musicians that formed the foundation for Swing Music. Wonder includes references to many of these luminaries in the lyrics.
So...this one is a considerable challenge to all who wish to play it - particularly Wonder's instrumental portion, beginning of measure 25. I have had to awkwardly adjust octaves in various places to keep this piece (marginally) within instrument range. If you would like to see the lyrics or the chords, you can use Composer commands to display them: for lyrics use qsl; for chords use qscn. There are no chords for measure 25 to the end. Wonder's score does not include them. Basically, it is a riff on the F Major scale. Ralph R. Rayner |
