Default Drum Sounds - General Midi

I write scores that use drum sets or traps. I created a general midi cheat sheet for myself as a quick reference for what "note" I need to use to create a specific drum sound. It occurred to me today that I should share it. Perhaps some of you will find it helpful.

Hi Ralph,

Thanks for sharing that - I'm sure that folks will find it helpful.

If you use a drum set other than the Standard MIDI, and you have that set entered in Composer, you can use the following sequence to have the same type of sheet for your device's drum set.

  1. Setup -> MIDI Devices Configuration
  2. Select your device
  3. right-click and select "Edit drum notes"
  4. In the list of buttons on the right, click "Show Playback Pitches."
This will generate a file that will have (1) the pseudo-pitches for the drum instruments (2) and the device/bank/patch names according to the device.

There are lots of these "hidden gems" in Composer

Enjoy!
Sherry

Oooo - sorry for posting something that is already available. I think some time ago you let me know that function was available, but I had forgotten all about this "hidden gem". Trying to think back, I may have created my file from data in my Clavinova books.

If this is an unnecessary thread, please feel free to delete it. Thanks!

Ralph

Hi Ralph,

It's never a bad thing to put good information out there. If I had a nickel for each time I've replied to the same questions, I'd be rich by now Reminding folks where one of those hidden "gems" is located is always good.

ttfn,
Sherry
