Default Re: Playing Drum Part

Hi, Paul:

If you click on the "speaker" icon to the left of your drum track (in Window view), a dialogue box will come up that shows the various settings for that track.

Select Midi Channel 10, which the General Midi Standard reserves for drum instruments, and go to the bottom left of the box and select "Drum Instrument".

Now, when you play back, assuming your playback device is a GM instrument, you'll hear drum sounds and the notation will show X-head type notes with "pseudo" pitches -- each pitch represents a different percussion instrument.

You should also be able to select different drum kits by changing the patch.

Good luck.

David
