Default Choppy playback

This might be a memory problem or something else interfering. I use Notation with Synthfont. Often times on my "more powerful" computer I get choppy playback when listening on Notation through Synthfont. The problem occurs less often with my "less powerful" computer. What would you check? I've tried closing other open programs and that is not necessarily helping. Again, this doesn't happen consistently. Thanks, Mike

Hi, Mike:

Do you have ASIO drivers installed? If not, go to www.asio4all.com and install the universal ASIO driver there.

Even though your "more powerful" computer may be newer, the audio card may not necessarily be better, especially if it's an on-board card.

ASIO may solve the problem.

Sherry is the Synthfont expert here. I don't use it myself, as I have to justify the stacks of keyboards around me to my wife -- "Oh, no! I really need this one! Just one more!"

It's an addiction.

David

Hi guys,

David, I'm just a cheapskate

For the choppy problem, David's suggestion is good, AND also be sure the GS Wavetable is turned off in Composer/Musician. The GS Wavetable interferes with the ASIO driver, and can affect latency as well.

To turn off the GS Wavetable:
1. Open Musician/Composer and click Setup/MIDI Device Configuration.
2. Click on Ports/Select Ports, and UNcheck the box beside GS Wavetable.
3. Click "Ok" to save and exit.

Hopefully that should do it.

ttfn,
Sherry
