Default Tentative

This song is considerably simpler than the last arrangement we put up for harp. This one was also done without a MIDI.

You can watch on youtube also. Should work well for piano as well.

Nice piece. I should get a harp - it seems that even relatively simple music sounds highly effective.

From bar 17 I couldn't quite get my head around the bar structure, where the B sounds like an upbeat, but is on the first beat of the bar. Maybe think about that aspect if publishing, but great little tune.

thank you for bringing the mistake to my attention. I knew it needed to be a grace note, but could not figure out how to do it. Will try to put up a corrected one if I can figure this out.

Hi Yenney,
I didn't get a chance to comment on your first posting, but thoroughly enjoyed it.
"Tentative" lives up to its title, I think, and the sense of indecision gives it its charm. Adrian is right about the B in meas. 17 and the first note in the next measures. But I don't think you want to make it a grace note. I'd just leave this, the most charming section of the piece, I think, as it is. Tentatively, it might come out of its cocoon as a waltz or perhaps a march. I suppose you could make the first beat a 1/4 measure and the remaining ones 3/4, or something and do so for each measure in this section. But that's a lot of work to come up with what sounds to me as it's probably intended to sound already. (Even if you lower the volume of the second beat, it still has the same upbeat quality.)
You obviously know the harp. I have used it in a couple of pieces, but never intellectually mastered the pedals, so I suspect there are places that may be technically improbable, at best. If you get a chance, I'd appreciate your taking a look and pinning me to the wall where there is something that can't be played. "Canyon de Chelly," is a fairly recent post. I doubt there is any real problem there. The second movement of my first symphony features the harp, however. It is probably in the archives, as it's from several years ago, though it is being revised now.
Looking forward to hearing more of your work.
all best,
mgj

That was beautiful
I'm printing it immediately and learning it on the piano. I love how it is so simple, and yet so rich, melodic, and dramatic at the same time. Very good job. And yes, my practiced eye tells me it fits a pianist's hands just fine.
