Default Lyrics lines - varying the font attributes

Sherry

Another minor suggestion from a choral perspective. It sometimes occurs that a piece is shown with alternative languages for the lyrics. Common examples are sacred music with lyrics shown in Latin and English or operatic choruses with lyrics in the original (e.g. Italian) and English. A piece I am currently putting in has orginal lyics in Welsh for which we are giving the choir a phonetic interpretation.

In a printed score this is often shown by having one of the language in italics, so the orginal lyric is in normal font style with the translated/phonetic version underneath in italic style. This makes it easier for the singer to focus on the required version.

Notation currently seems to restrict you to a single set of font attributes for the entire lyric, so at the present time my Welsh piece of two verses looks like it has four verses, as there is nothing to distinguish the phonetic line from the original line.

We can fix this in the printed version by manual highlighting the phonetic line before we photocopy it, but it would be good to be able to do it in the product.

Again very low priority I guess unless you have other features stacking up for the lyrics area.

Best wishes
Tim
