Default Notation Musician Staff Setup

Sherry

I am trying to encourage more of our choir members to upgrade from Notation Player to Notation Musician but I'm not completely sure of the additional functionality.

Can you please clarify if Musician allows the user to mute a staff/staves and to alter the volume of a staff/staves? I do give each vocal part an emphasised version of each piece but some would like to be able to further alter the relative volumes of the other parts. I don't want to tell them they can do that with Musician and then find they actually need Composer.

Thanks
Tim

Default Re: Notation Musician Staff Setup

Hi Tim,

For practicing, your choir members should find Notation Musician to be quite enough.

With Musician they can:

  • mute, solo, or otherwise adjust the volume of any staff
  • change the tempo (I find it helpful to practice very slowly, and then increase the tempo as I get more familiar with a piece or section)
  • set up Practice Sessions, where they can work on either the entire piece or just a small section repeatedly til they have it down. (We have a tutorial video on this.)
  • Add any annotations they want to help them remember things (I sometimes add finger positions to mine) or to otherwise help clarify the score.
  • Create their own parts (eg. if they only want to see their staff, or see it only with certain other staves). Player only allows them to see Parts that the master file has already.
We're currently having a "Pick your price" sale, and there are discounts available there which are comparable to "group" pricing.

If you or any of your members have any further questions, do let me know.

ttfn,
Sherry

p.s. They'd only need Composer if they wanted to actually add notes and edit the performance of them.
