Default Slur placement on XML import

Hi, guys:

I've played with XML import a bit.

Using the official samples from the Music XML official website, I looked several of them.

I found a few points to be looked at.

Slur placement seems to be a problem. While some slurs appear in Composer properly after import, others are either distorted, cut off or misplaced.

I've attached a couple of example files.

David,
Thanks for looking to the MusicXML import.
We already have this issue on our To Do list.

David,

actually there are two issues:

(1) the left song "Quem queritis"
This is a kind of Gregorian song with no measures (or just one) and without any meter. Because Notation Software is focussed on modern music, measures and meter are required. For Gregorian kind of music we usually recommend customers to use a 4/4 meter and add according measures. I added this principle (4/4 meter and according measures) in the software for the import of MusicXML of Gregorian type of music. The left side now looks as below and the fix comes with the next beta update.

(2) the right song
is the issue which is known.

Hi, Reinhold:

The Quem Queritas now shows proper slurring and all the lyrics appear.

David,

Thanks. We also added the enhancement of "mid-measure clef changes" in the latest update that makes the other file look better now.

Regarding slurs we will have some more improvement in the next beta update but all final slurring may not be 100% perfect in 3.0.7. The reason is that the slur concept in Composer is more a graphical solution rather than a note-to-note feature which MusicXML requires. Slurs are placed today to the score by the user and then user shapes slurs finally. This task now needs to be done by the software. A new slur concept which matches 100% to the note-to-note architecture of MusicXML is beyond the scope of 3.0.7.
