Default And for Our American Cousin(s)

For July 4th, here's another bit from The Great Perth Temperance Soiree.

This is played during the reading of a letter by a Scots settler to the local newspaper, reviewing a Temperance meeting. He complains in particular about the brass band who had "Phoenix-like gaithered themselves ta-gaither and were makin' a horrible attempt to entertain the audience. Some you'd think were playin' Dandy Jim and ithers Yankee Doodle -- an' a' at once!"

The resulting bit of fun is the attached piece.

Happy 4th of July to all south of the 49th parallel.

And bonus points to anyone who gets the reference in the title of this thread.

David
