Default GP6: Slide in middle of a note

Andante, Andante by ABBA is the piece in question. In the intro, the note slides up an octave halfway through the note. Only the original and ending note are picked (not the start of the slide). The note (including the slide) is a dotted crotchet.

Is there a way to notate this, specifically showing that the start of the slide is not picked?

Hi, MacNab:

I'm curious as to what the "GP6" at the beginning of the title means.

In Notation Composer, there is a "Lines" item in the main pallette that will let you add graphic elements that will indicate either a glissando or a portamento.

To get both a clear notation and a useful sounding playback, set the first and last notes of the slide in your displayed track, along with the appropriate item from the Lines pallete, then create a second, hidden track on the same midi channel that contains whatever notes you need to create the effect of the slide on your playback device. The notes on the displayed track can have a velocity of zero, so all that is heard is from the unseen, hidden track.

Hope that helps.

David

Oh, and, while Notation Composer doesn't have specific guitar ornamentation, you can simply add a small free text element saying "Hammer-On" -- I assume the beginning of the slide is a hammer-on.

It stands for Guitar Pro 6. I misread the name of the forum and took it to be a guide ofr ALL notation software - with small letters!!

Thanks for the answer anyway.
