Well, because it's a piece
Well, because it's a piece for a concept album I've been working on that is very much in a rock vein, even though this one isn't.
The album started out as one song and has grown to 14 pieces that, at the moment, are an unwieldy 1 hour 14 minutes in total. Now to start trimming. Anyway, I wrote this one yesterday as a replacement for a longer piece that I decided isn't working. Just noodling on the guitar and the themes started to come out, so I developed it. Very pretty, I think. Do, please, view the Guitar part in Page mode, as there are lots of notation things that only look right in Page mode. A piece to make Mark's notation mad heart glad. Enjoy. Howdy David,

Howdy David,
I opened this piece up in Composer, with my headphones on, and was turning to do something else when it started playing. The fretnoise drew my attention immediately, to make sure I was playing a file in Composer, not an mp3 Very convincing performance of a beautiful piece! You've used a number of techniques to very good effect I'm just curious, though, since it's for acoustic guitar, if it's typical to have it as a "two handed" score. All my guitar music sheets are single-staff, which makes me wonder if you intend to have a bass playing along. I see from the other Parts that you have a number of other staves present besides the very cool fret noise. So are we going to get to hear some of the other pieces for this album as well? You've got my appetite whetted! ttfn, Sherry |

Hi, Sherry:
I split the par
Hi, Sherry:
I split the part because it was very complicated when the two were combined and the multiple lines made it difficult to follow. Translated to tablature, the complexity won't be as apparent as tabs don't require line splitting. (You know how to make a guitarist play slower, don't you? Put notation in front of him.) The hidden staves are midi-delayed echoes of the main staves, to give the piece some space -- an easy way to make a part come alive. And the fret-noises, of course. The additional empty staves are from the template file and I forgot to delete them! Most of the rest are too big to upload (ie., greater than the 500k limit), but maybe I can post some part files. Thanks for the comments. David |

Hi David
What a nice and sonicaly balanced piece of music.Like Sherry I was first puzzled by the hidden staves ( especially of the bass track ),but your second comment makes all clear to me. It also made my fingers itch to play along with the song. Please keep the other files coming. Regards and thanks for sharing Djim |
