Lightbulb New feature: add YouTube videos directly into posts

Hi friends,

After a little research and some testing, we now have a cool new feature that you can use - embed a YouTube video in your post. While we hope to use this feature to post some video tutorials (yes, some of you have been waiting very patiently for this!), we also hope it will benefit others of you who have created your own videos using your music. Now, rather than just posting a link to go view the video, it can be seen right here in the comfort of our own forum

While we have never had any problem previously, please do keep in mind that we are a family-friendly forum, and please post only videos that are suitable for youngsters to see as well as the rest of us. As always, we do reserve the right to remove inappropriate posts of any kind. Right-ho.

To embed the video, just do the following:

1.Type in your post, and where you want the video to appear, enter the code from the YouTube url that comes after the “v=” (eg. for http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GppjEICUfqE”, all you have to copy/paste or type in your post is “GppjEICUfqE”.)

2.Now select the “GppjEICUfqE” in your text, and click on the Movie Camera icon (you'll see it in the Editor box toolbar).

3.In the little pop-up box that comes up, enter the text title for the video.

4. Finish entering, reviewing, and posting your post.

One little "gotcha" - do NOT format the "GppjEICUfqE" text in any way after copy/pasting it from the url nor after using the movie-camera button on it. It won't work properly if it's formatted text.

So, for an example, using the url listed the steps above and following those steps, you get to see the following YouTube video. This is from our kids' Christmas program last year, all the music of which was produced using Notation Composer.

If you have any questions, or run into any problems, do let us know.

Enjoy!
Sherry
