Default Granada Duet

“Granada” was written in 1932 by Mexican composer Agustín Lara, with English lyrics by Dorothy Dodd. The song title refers to the city of Granada in Spain.

The opening is quite dramatic – it brings to mind a fanfare at a bull fight. The tempo is marked as a quarter note = ~100, rubato (approximately 100 -- you can really play this free of tempo (rubato), but if you are playing along with Composer, there has to be a strict tempo). Then, the piece flows into a fast waltz tempo. There are a few melodic ornaments, but other than that, this is a fairly easy piece to play, even at a fast tempo.

I try to keep these duets to two pages for printing the score, which is what Cynthia and I play from, but there is too much music in this piece, so three pages it is. It is formatted for printing (Page View), so the display in Window View may be stretched out in some places. If you prefer to play from your PC screen instead of printing this piece, you can go into Page Layout and delete the Page Breaks.

If you would like to see the lyrics or the chords, you can use Composer commands to display them: for lyrics use qsl; for chords use qscn.
