Default For the Good Times Duet

“For the Good Times” was written in 1968 by singer/performer/actor Kris Kristofferson.

There is one oddity in measure 11, due to the lyrics, and my not wanting to write the difference out longhand. Writing it out longhand would cause the printed score to go to three pages, which is something I try very hard to avoid. The eighth note off beat 3 in measure 11 has the notation (1x) to the left of it. This means to only play this note the first time you go through this section. If you do not care about the lyrics, you can play all three eighth notes both times through this section.

If you would like to see the lyrics or the chords, you can use Composer commands to display them: for lyrics use qsl; for chords use qscn.

Note: after playing this piece several times with my wife Cynthia, I decided to change the harmony part in measures 26-29.

Note 2: I am not in the habit of making changes to songs after I post them, but the more I played this song, the more I didn't like the concert A on beat 1 in measure 6 - it just didn't sound right. So, I went to You Tube and listened to the composer sing it. My lead sheet that I started from had an A, but Kris sings a G, so I have changed it and reposted the score. I am happier now.
