Default Re: Huge PDF size, export

Hi,

The large file size is due to the high resolution default setting.

If you want smaller file size (which will also result in lower resolution), you can change the following setting in the registry. CAUTION: editing the registry should not be done if you don't feel comfortable, or if you don't know what settings to change.

The following instructions are explicitly to change the compression settings for the PDF export:

  1. Click the Windows Start button and in the Search field type "regedit.exe"
  2. Click the "regedit.exe" that comes up in the search
  3. In RegEdit, navigate to Computer / HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Notation / Composer /PageSetupOptions / PDFCompressionFactor
  4. Double-click the PDFCompressionFactor in the right-hand side and enter a larger number than what is entered. Eg. if the current number is "3", try setting it to "4".
  5. Click Ok to save the setting, then exit RegEdit.
Here is a screen shot of what you'll see in RegEdit:

Enjoy
