Default Re: Some tests on audio export

Hi friends,

We have run into an item that we want to ask your input about.

With Notation Composer 3, you have the option to use any General MIDI (GM) soundfont that you would like to in the Notation Software Synth. However different soundfonts can have different inherent volume levels, and so there needs to be a way to adjust the Gain for these when listening to a song using different soundfonts, and especially when exporting (rendering) song files to audio files. If the Gain is too high, clipping and/or distortion can occur. If the Gain is too low, then even using the Volume controls may result in unsatisfactory dynamic ranges. Therefore we want to include a Gain Control of some type in Composer so that the user can change this setting easily.

Just to be clear, the File/Export Audio only uses the internal Notation Software Synth for creating the audio files, so this Gain setting only applies to the NS Synth, not to any other MIDI devices.

With the above in mind, where would you as a user look for such a Gain control? Please be specific as this is an important question for the Chief Developer to know where to put the control.

Thanks!
Sherry
