Default Send In The Clowns Duet

"Send In The Clowns" was written in 1973 by Stephen Sondheim for the Broadway musical "A Little Night Music". Frank Sinatra and Judy Collins helped to popularize the song which has become a jazz standard.

The time signature (12/8, with a scattering of 9/8) may look a little daunting, but the song flows quite nicely and shouldn't be very hard to play. I have borrowed fairly heavily from Sondheim's lead sheet of this piece for the Alto part, but that makes it sound more like the original.

If you are playing this song along with Composer, it is necessary to adhere to the strict tempo, however, if you are fortunate enough to have a playing partner as I do, the song is really meant to be rubato (without strict tempo), so the lead part can dictate nuances of slightly changing tempo.

If you would like to see the lyrics or the chords, you can use Composer commands to display them: for lyrics use qsl; for chords use qscn.
