Playback starts several measures earlier than I click
 

Hi all. I did something silly and I messed up a setting somewhere that is causing me grief. When I'm playing a tune and I click on a measure to move forward or backwards, the tune begins playing 2 measures before where I clicked and I can't figure out what setting there is that would control this. It is strange that there would be a setting at all. It is even more annoying when I'm near the beginning of a tune as the software wants to restart the song from the beginning, including the lead-in w/metronome. :confused: Thanks. :D

Hi,

It sounds like you are using Alt-Space to initiate playback, which puts Composer in Practice mode. Plain old Spacebar starts normal playback.

In Practice mode, Composer will play a "n" bar lead-in (depending on the settings) and will loop between marks that you can specify.

Look at the Perform-Practice Setup menu item to see whether that's the case.

Hi,

It sounds like the "Play pickup measures" is "on" for two bars.
Check in Perform/Pickup beat option (about halfway down the Perform menu in Composer). My guess is that the "Play pickup for playback and recording" option is checked. (The "Play the pickup beats even if the metronome is silent thereafter" option may be checked as well.) Just uncheck it/them, then click "Ok" to save the setting.

Thanks! I'll try that later tonight. That is most likely what happened as I was experimenting with playback functions. :)
