Sound problem after attempting to transpose

:o I was transcribing an original composition. After I had finished about 12 bars of it, I attempted to transpose to a lower key. Well, I did not like what I heard so I figured I would bring it back to the original key. The problem: After this attempt, when I played the segment directly on my keyboard (Yamaha DGX-640) it sounds fine! However when I try to place the identical segment already written through Music Composer, the B natural key above the Middle C sounds like B flat!! Anyone care to make a suggestion? All other keys sound fine whether playing them directly on the keyboard or making up a melody in Music Composer.

I unplugged the keyboard for about three hours to see if there was something in its memory that would reset, but no such luck!!!!

Help!!!!

Re: Sound problem after attempting to transpose

Hi,

I would suggest checking in Graph Over Notes and click the "Ctl" button with the red question mark (?) See if there are any asterisks (*) beside any of the controllers. If so, that means a MIDI cc event for that one occurs in the file. Click on that one to see if a red graph line of any kind shows up where you're hearing the off pitch. If it does, then delete the graph using the graphing tools in the tool palette.

Sometimes a controller event such as a Pitch Bend will affect pitch, and for some keyboards there may be other controllers that affect pitch as well. One may have been inserted for just that note.

If the above does not help you figure it out, please send me a copy of the file with the problem, and also a copy of a backup (eg. one of the automatic backups that Composer keeps just in case weird things happen.)

ttfn,
Sherry
