Trouble openging a not file

I've been working on a music score called Is This True Love for a few days, but when I tried to open up it's not file like I usually do, I get this message.

File Is This True Love.not could not be opened according to its expected format.

I have saved the file a few times before this error message occurred. I was half way done with the score when it happened. I've tried updating the software and I still get the same message when I retried the file.

Any solutions to this problem without redoing the score all over again? What cause this and are there any ways to to prevent it from happening again?

I appreciate any prompt responses, advice, and suggestions. Thank you

Charmalique

Re: Trouble openging a not file

Hi, Charmalique:

That usually indicates a corrupted file, for some reason or other.

Notation Composer saves files automatically as backups, and you may be able to recover a more or less up-to-date version of it by going to File -> Auto-save File Recovery and going through the filenames there.

I have my Composer installation set up to auto-save every 10 minutes with up to 5 backups, so that the newest one is no more than 10 minutes old and the oldest no more than 50.

I hope you find a useable backup.

Re: Trouble openging a not file

Hi,

What David said :) You can also set the autosave to save more frequently and more copies. I have mine set at 2 minutes and 12 copies :)

Also, if you could please send me a copy of the file that won't open, either posted here or sending it to support@notation.com I would appreciate it. If you can remember what editing you were doing just prior to the last time you saved the file, that may be helpful, but please don't feel pressed about it.

ttfn,
Sherry
