Wen saving as a MIDI treble clefs turn into bass'

I am having a problem. I typed out a song one note at a time with all the repeats and stuff so it would look good on paper, then I copied and pasted that, in parts, into a new file so I could play it as a midi. My problem is, it keeps wanting to make the treble clefs in some measures into bass clefs (Changing where all the notes are on the scale in the process) when I export it as a MIDI. It still plays it fine but It just looks funny when I view the score on my Yamaha's LCD screen. I have it saved as a new corrected .NOT score but every time I try to export it as a MIDI it wants to convert what I see. It just makes it very confusing, what I see on paper is not what I see on my piano's screen. Any help? Thanks!

Hi,

The placement of the notes on the staff of your keyboard when you open a .mid file is (unfortunately) not related at all to where you have them in a .not file in Composer.

When you export a .mid file from your .not song file, only the note pitches are saved, not the type of clef. If your keyboard only displays one clef, then it probably decides which clef to use based on the preponderance of note pitches it sees.

I would suggest checking the keyboard manual to see if there are any tips or hints about preparing the .mid file a particular way to make the display on the keyboard's screen look better. There are also some Yamaha user forums that may be helpful, either with archived answers to questions, or where you can ask other users for tips about .mid files that work best on Yamaha keyboards.

One other item comes to mind as well - if you have your song file set up so that it is showing instrument transposed pitches, that will affect the display on the Yamaha as well.

Hope this helps :)
Sherry
