Volume change of Selected Staves.

I want to change the volume of a selected stave line relative to the others in a piece of music down loaded by Musician.
I choose Staff controls from the view command, click the little blue arrow only in Staff Selection and while the music is playing move the Volume slider.
This however changers the volume of all the staves not the specific one highlighted.
This is as written in instructions, but is not working. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

Hi, Impulse:

To permanently change the volume of one or more staves, you can use the Staff Setup to enter an initial numeric value for each staff.

Alternatively, for changes within the music, you can click on the GraphOverNotes(TM) tab, make sure the VOL icon is selected and use the tools in the toolbar to draw volume lines or curves or erase data. The "96" icon will let you input a numeric value for a range you've previously selected.

The volume slider and temp scroller are intended for temporary changes, for example, when working on a piece and wanting to try out an effect without any permanent changes. I've frankly never even looked at the volume slider before (in, what?, 15 years of using Notation Software), so I'm not sure of what it's supposed to do. I'll do some checking on it and see what's happening.

But, to change volume on a more permanent basis, use the Staff Setup or GraphOverNotes(TM) methods.

This behavior is as intended. The feature is to allow contrasting the selected staff with other staves in terms of volume so you can focus on the selected staff. We opted to have the volume of the other staves decrease as you slide the volume control left to allow you to clearly hear the selected staff, and to then increase the other staves' volume as you slide right so that the mix more nearly matches the "full mix", but still with the selected volume slightly elevated to hear it more clearly.

We decided against actually increasing any volumes higher than the "set" volume so as to avoid blowing out ears or speakers :)

ttfn,
Sherry
