Tutorial to Convert MIDI to Noation Composer
By default, importing a MIDI tune into Notation Composer is usable. But 99% of the tunes I import need the SAME work over and over and over.
Here is my procedure. http://softronix.com/fiddle/ABCNotat...onComposer.doc Sorry it's in Word 2003. You can read it with a free reader microsoft, or Open office from Sun.com if you don't have Word. |
Re: Tutorial to Convert MIDI to Noation Composer
Wow, that's an impressive document. Thank you!
BTW, you can open it with free OpenOffice, so no worries. I don't know if there is one preferable way of score format but doing all the adjustments all over again for each new sheet may be uncomfortable either. This probably leads to the idea having macro operations in Notation Software. In other words you create a list of operations you want usually to perform on your score and do that later on other score with a single mouse click. However this can only work with operations targeting the total score, so this may be finally also a bit limited. But the idea is for sure interesting but a massive feature either - nevertheless probably worth a thought. |
Re: Tutorial to Convert MIDI to Noation Composer
Keep in mind 99% of work I do in the tutorial. Which takes about 5-10 minutes on each tune. Is restoring structure that was lost in converting the tune from ABC to MIDI.
I have a feature request to add Macro's to software I write at work. HUGE task. |
Re: Tutorial to Convert MIDI to Noation Composer
Is there a good conversion from ABC into music XML?
If yes it would be enough to focus on a feature request for music XML import into Notation Composer... |

Tried a few tunes. Got a few errors on MusicXML import each time and didn't know what the errors meant. It partially worked even with errors. Then I tried another tune and it failed to import at all. So I don't know if it's the conversion tool or the Finale. |
Re: Tutorial to Convert MIDI to Noation Composer
Seems all not to be that easy...
I've lately tried Myriad music XML viewer for html pages (because of an request in another thread here) and couldn't load a music XML file exported with Notation Software there too. With another pre release open source program called MuseScore import of the same music XML file worked fine. Music XML seems to be a Babylonian Format everyone talks but no one seems to fully understand... |
