Keeps Splitting Dotted 8th into 2 notes?
 

I want to notate a dotted 8th note, but NC keeps automatically changing it to two tied notes, an 8th and a 16th. How can I override this?

It may help to know that this only happens if the second note in the measure is the one I want to be a dotted 8th (3/8 time).

Hi Ken,

This "splitting of the dotted note" is on the make-it-better list. In the meantime you can (1) select the tie and (2) click the "collapse tie" button in the palette tool bar to make the split/tied note into a dotted note.
