How to get music to a CD

Howdy friends,

One question that we get asked fairly frequently is how do I get my songs from Musician or Composer to a CD? You can use the "Search" function on the menu bar above to find out specifically how other folks are doing that here in the forum. Notation Software products don't offer an integrated method for doing this at this point in time (version 2.5.2), but the basic steps are fairly easy.
1. Edit your song file in Musician or Composer to where you like it. If you really get into tweaking the performance, you'll want to use Composer, and probably a nice sound library or other sound source.

2. Open your favorite audio recording and editing software. One that I can recommend from personal use (and it's available free) is Audacity. It's available for download at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ and is quite user-friendly. You can search around on the forum to see what other users favor.

3. Set the recording software to "record", and then Musician or Composer to "Play" to record the performance of the song.

4. When it's done, hit "stop" for both software programs.

5. Make any adjustments to the audio file you've recorded (effects if you want them, trimming, etc.)

6. Export the recording to an audio file such as WAV for CD burning, or MP3 if you're using one of those devices.

7. Use the software that came with your computer's CD burner to create an audio CD of your music.

There you have it! I use this method quite frequently to create backing tracks for singing or performing with.

ttfn,
Sherry
