This theme sometimes runs through my mind during the day. I really like it, but I forgot it's name and who composed it, and would really like to know. I do know that it's an orchestral piece. Does anyone else know what it is (and who composed it)?

Howdy,

Oh, nuts - I just heard this the other day, and I can't remember for the life of me who wrote it (I've a bad memory for composers of all genres). But now I have a great symphony going through my head http://www.notation.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif

If someone doesn't come up with it soon, I'll have to go look through the CDs that I have stashed in my kitchen and see if I can find out who. Mozart has been a favorite here lately - perhaps?

ttfn,
Sherry

I'm sorry, I guess I didn't explain enough. The piece I'm thinking of uses a full orchestra, including trombones, cymbals, etc, indicating that it's a Romantic or later piece. It's style of orchestration is quite like Dvorak's 8th Slavonic Dance in G minor. I thought it might be a Slavonic Dance of Dvorak's, but I cheched through those, though I might have missed it. I you never heard the 8th, here's a midi:

Slavonic Dance.

Howdy Daniel,

Thanks for posting that!

Way back when I worked in research, one of my graduate students (who was also a musician) had an uncanny knack for remembering orchestral works. It was great - I could come in, hum him a few lines from something, and he would nail it every time. He could even tell me if I'd hummed it in the right key. I never checked him on that, though http://www.notation.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif
