Some Screen Capture questions

A few queries in regard to setting up an MNC score for screen capture

1. Green Arrows.
Is there a way to turn off that green arrow during playback – the one that shows the current playing staff?

2. As an alternative to the moving highlight indicator bar I would like to display just two line/staves per page. This would make it easier for those who are not familiar with reading music, to find their place as the music plays and changes screen quite frequently. (This also avoids having to sync the sound to video as precisely when the sound is recorded using a separate music library)

3. Can the instrument abbreviation be removed from the score (in Page view) – in the case of a piano score the “Pno” text that starts each staff?

I’ve tried deleting it in Staff>Setup but it just reappears.

Thanks for any help.

Hi, jss:

Use the command "qspp" or deselect "playback position arrows" in the View menu.

I don't think there is any way to turn off the playback position cursor line, but it's easy to set up a part that contains only the staves you want to see ("qpart" or "Display or define part" under the Part menu.

3. Can the instrument abbreviation be removed from the score (in Page view) – in the case of a piano score the “Pno” text that starts each staff?

Use the command "qsi" or de-select "Show Instrument Names" from the format menu.

Hope that helps.

Re: Some Screen Capture questions

Hi David,
Thanks for the help. Exactly what I wanted to do - except maybe I didn't explain Q2 very well.

I'm talking about a score for piano. So we have generally a Treble & Bass clef joined. At the moment the screen capture present one full page at a time - say for example that might mean 5 or 6 piano staves. That's a lot for a novice to read especially if I turn off the moving marker (which I'd like to do). So, if I could present just two piano staves at once on screen that would be much easier to follow.

Many thanks again for you help.
regards
-John

ps btw The playback cursor can be turned off: Perform>Highlighting Options> untick Playback cursor

Okay -- I don't think I've ever looked at that menu!

Depending on your capture software, you may be able to just select the area (eg. 2 systems) that you want to capture and do it that way (or crop the captures after you do them.)

Alternatively, you can use the magnification buttons to increase/decrease the size of the score within the Composer window to fit in however much you want. The zoom buttons are on the far left of the track tools bar (just below the menu bar) - the "+" one zooms in, the "-" one zooms out.

Hope this helps!

ttfn,
Sherry
