One of my first on Notation (vs cleaning up Cakewalk Scorewriter midis) is from an old fiddle tune 'Soldier's Joy'.
Still don't have the right Soundfonts assigned.<center><table border=1><tr><td>http://www.notation.com/discus/icons...hment_icon.gifSoldier's Waltz Soldier's Waltz.not (42.6 k)</td></tr></table></center> |

Hello Geroge,
That's a beautiful tune. Here's a interesting musical challenge: Study how Copland orchestrated the Simple Gifts tune in Appalachian Spring, and apply similar MIDI orchestral techniques to this Soldier's Waltz. It would be glorious. Cheers -- Mark |

Hi George,
Beautiful indeed! I was listening using the Taiji Generation GM (sort of) soundfont, which has oboe for the melody and synth strings for the two chord staves. It sounded beautiful, and a good tempo for evoking a grassy-meadow warm spring day feeling for me http://www.notation.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif If you decide that you've found the perfect soundfont for your vision, please do let us know. I'd love to hear what you're hearing http://www.notation.com/discus/clipart/happy.gif ttfn, Sherry |
