Notation for trill defective

I have a whole note to notate to trill. When I choose triplet in the Ornament palette and also a 16th note for the trill, it does not come out as expected. I expect it (if written out) to be 8 groups of 16th note triplets, but it only give some strange groupings other than expected. Also, I have to repeatedly press my mouse over the trill to bring out the menu for me to choose "convert ornament to written out performance".

Hi,

Thanks for bringing this problem to our attention! I have written it up for our development team to fix. Unfortunately I don't currently have a workaround for the issue.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

ttfn,
Sherry

I hope everything is worked-out swiftly. I think this thing on trill notation is one of the acid test of music notation software. Some of these are known issues for some, but they simply cannot correct them, or is not at all one of the features.

Re: Notation for trill defective

Hi Andrew,

I should add that the "regular" (ie. non-tuplet) trill feature works fine on Notation Composer. It may be that the triplet/tuplet style trill is just not that common. I don't play classical music myself (love to listen), so I'm not sure how common an item a tuplet trill really is. Is it particularly common to a specific genre or composer?

ttfn,
Sherry

Re: Notation for trill defective

In the realm of violin classical music, especially those of the romantic classic, it is fairly common. There is also the turn at the end of trill, which is different in baroque classic from other classic music.
